05. Projects

Besides online marketing, I like to work on digitally infused projects and ideas every now and again. Some projects I launched or participated in:

www.butikk.nu

affordable design hotelsAlthough low cost design hotels were coined an upcoming phenomenon in 2009 by the Future Laboratory, until recently there were no known websites for easy booking.

This is why I created butikk.nu. A plain and simple design. A solid selection of plain beautiful affordable hotels. No hassle. No stress. Just some good pictures, an idea about pricing and a link to an external booking website.

The first reactions have been great. I got some pretty amazing thumbs up from some very inspirational people & we are starting to get a nice selection of hotels. We got some pretty awesome press attention, being mentioned on notcot.org, having been part of Debbie Pappyn's selection for the belgian newspaper De Morgen as well as in Weekend Knack and De Standaard.

nomadz.nu

affordable design hotelsInspired by the growing lifestyle design movement, we decided to launch a digital nomad experiment. “Is it possible to pick up your life and take it with you to the other side of the world?” Not like a gap year – which implies interrupting your life & coming back broke. No. Think different. Think modern nomads, digital ones. Taking your lives with you. Laptops. Skype. Clients. Projects. Facebook. Friends.

For one year we lived in 3 different locations (Cape Town, Thailand & Buenos Aires) while we continued working both for clients and proper projects from behind our laptops. Contrary to gap year travelers, we came back with as much money as when we left. In the meanwhile we went wildlife watching, participated at Burning Man, visited Patagonia, learned surfing, enjoyed the most incredible thai massages & food, learned surfing,…

Our story made it to several national & international tv, radio & print media. We’ve given several presentations on the subject & have been documenting our story through various social media.
